July - September 2012

We have finally found some time to update  the website and what a perfect day for it, torrential rain and freezing cold outside = swimming to the workshop through the flood in the yard.

So where to begin, so much has happened over the summer; Olympics, Paralympics, Sailing Events, New Products. Here is a little bit of what we have been up to.

We have been busy with the heat press making some supporters t-shirt for Nick and Ed (breakthrough atlantic) along with some boat branding. 

Olympics and Paralympics

Congrats to Team Patience Bithel for their Silver Medal at the Olympics, we will have to find something special to make out of all the sails they donated us. Also huge congrats to Team Birrell Rickham for their Bronze Medal at the Paralympcis, they did a great job of being our spy cam spotting all the Team GB support staff chillaxing on our beanbags.

May - June 2012

We have had a very busy couple of months. Here are a few photos of what we have been up to:

We sponsored TEAM PB (Pete Bursnall) at the Snowdonia Slateman Triathlon, Llanberis with printed jerseys. The team comprised of Ed Curtis - swimmer, Alan Williams (dad) - cyclist and Matt Strickland -runner. It was a tough challenge with there been a 1000m open water swim in Llyn Padarn, 51km road cycle which included a scenic start up Pen Y Pass, and then a 11km trail run through the slate quaries in Llanberis. They finished in a very respectable 4th.

Got a special sail?? Why not replicate what one of our cutomers did who recently changed class from the Optimist to 420. His friends all signed his sail and then we transformerd it into a beanbag chair for him to use and remember his time in the Optimist. 

We are now selling some of our beanbag range online at Pebbles to Sand

We recently supplied some wash bags and ipad sleevs as prizes for the Olympic Sailing Teams team building day.

Finally we are going to be sponsoring Ed Curtis and Nick Rees on their fantastic challenge to row the Atlantic in December 2013 for Break Through BreastCancer. We will be suppling branded clothing with their sponsor logos and charity and helping to fit their boat out with bags to store equipment. Funky Starfish have advertised in VOGUE Magazine in their "She's Electric"section this month (May Issue out 7th May).

We are now selling in our first shop "The Handcrafted Company" in Blakeney, North Norfolk. It is a shop that sells Art, Gift cards, Notbooks, Bags etc.

Sadly due to postage and material inflation we have had to up some of our prices but  only slightly, on most items you will notice hardly any increase. On the upside we are still very reasonably priced for items that are unique and handmade in the UK.

Great success at the Coutts Auction on Thursday 29th March, our unique chair beanbag was auctioned off for £750.00 with all the proceeds going to Sailability. Wooooo Hoooooo :-D

Congrats to Hannah Mills for winning the Funky Starfish Raffle beanbag chair for Sailability at the RYA Dinghy Show. Very funny as she had just previously signed it. Thank you to all that purchased a ticket raising lots of pennies for Sailability.
